Laboratory Evaluation of a Phasor-Based Islanding Detection Method

Constantly growing distributed energy generation based on renewable sources creates a number of new challenges for electrical power system operation. One the is islanding detection. Unintentional islanding, which can cause health and safety hazards personnel, currently being experienced by consumers/prosumers especially in case photovoltaic inverters. This work presents detection method synchrophasor measurements. The proposed works either passive or hybrid mode. In mode, single phasor measurement unit (PMU) island region used. one PMU another outside are exploited. was verified conducted laboratory tests that confirmed applicability PMUs data effective monitoring unintentional islanding.
